MOTHER // LOGIC1000 ALBUM REVIEW

The genre defying producer and DJ, Logic1000 aka Samantha Poulta’s Debut solo album, Mother, is nothing short of an eclectic triumph. Despite the quite apt ricochet of tonal shifts we’re somehow never caught off guard as she takes us through her motherly journey. A very energetic motherly journey. Perhaps this is her lucozade.
As I was listening through trying to pick out some songs to use for my own mediocre DJ sets I found myself quite accidentally creating a baby-bump sized chunk of mother. The baselines carry the same “don’t skip it” shouting over to your friend trying to steal the aux energy as Overmono’s good lies did. But perhaps the most stick-on-repeat tracks are those which don’t make you want to shake your jaw. “Cartier” stood out straight away. Chill, catchy vocals over a familiar G Major chord sequence and an ear massaging break beat. If only it was longer than 2 minutes 44, making it the shortest song in the album. Directly after “Cartier” is “Heartbeat”, and we’re straight back to the Berlin club scene, hailing sunglasses on, 2 stepping through the night - Damn, I really should have gone to her fundraiser at The Cause.
Mark my words, it won’t be long until Logic1000 is name dropped with the likes of Barry Can’t Swim, Ross from Friends and Joy Orbison, especially once fourtet starts adding drops of Mother into his sets. Is it too early to call AOTY?!
